I would highly recommend adding the Open Shot Video Editor to your list of Alternatives. It is very extensive and is very simple. You can find it at www.openshotvideo.com.

it's difficult to choose between some of the software listed, though. maybe you can implement a voting system. some of the listed software seems to have stopped development for some time, too.
